Keeping Your Hay Dry

Steel buildings have a lot great and helpful uses, and storage is one of the absolute best. Of course, the types of items you can store will vary greatly, and not everything is appropriate for steel buildings for a number of reasons. Hay, along with plenty of other agricultural items, is actually one of the best things you can store in a steel structures and it might be an even better pairing than we might have previously realized.

Weather Resistant
Steel structures are great for standing up to the elements in a number of ways, and this ensures that your hay inside always stays dry and clean. Keeping it protected is the best things it does. It can stand up to strong winds which is obviously important so your stock is not blown away. We pay special attention to the roofing of our structures as well as the methods of construction so the chances of a roof flying off and leaving the interior of your structure exposed is ultimately non-existent.

Durable
The great thing about steel is how strong and durable it is. It’s a material that will not chip, rot, distort or warp during the time that you have it. This is a feature that will help you keep and maintain your steel building for a long time – perhaps even decades. If you wanted a place to store your hay, chances are that it’s a structure you need long-term to support the rest of your agricultural needs. With steel, you don’t have to worry about it deteriorating before its time.

Great Ventilation
This is particularly important in areas where heavy snow fall might be an issue, but having a steel structure means you will have a building that you can ensure is not only well insulated by also properly ventilated as to prevent any form of condensation of moisture buildup that might potentially damage your hay. Moisture on hay is also extremely dangerous since it can cause hay to spontaneously combust and start a fire inside your building. In the worst case scenario, steel is also fire resistant so you would have more time than usual to put out the fire, but the most important part is preventing the issue from arising in the first place with exceptional ventilation to keep the hay dry during the winter months.

No Maintenance
One of the most amazing thing about steel buildings is just how little maintenance is required in order to keep it in great shape. Due to the very nature of steel as a material, it’s resistant to not only the weather but also pests as well as most forms of corrosion as long as it’s properly sealed and coated. Thanks to this, the amount of repairs and fixes that are required on regular basis are much lower than materials such as wood or brick – which are susceptible to things like termites, rot and cracking. This is perfect for storage because you won’t have to worry about the integrity of your items, like hay, being compromised, damaged or contaminated the same way you might have to worry about it in a wooden storage unit, for example.
